I’m reflecting back on the year with a sense of surprise and gratitude. I’m an adventurous introvert. I need to constantly challenge myself, because I have an innate need to learn and to grow. When I look back on life, I see a kaleidoscope of curiosity, chaos, conflict, and creativity.
What do we ask when invited to an event … “What’s the dress code?”
We care about what we wear. We want to balance fitting in with standing out as an individual.
Some people always know what to wear … Jeans and a T shirt. A basic black outfit. A power jacket.
Some of us stand at the closet and debate … This or that? How do we want to feel? And that’s the key …
Clothing affects the way we feel about ourselves and how we show up.
“What do you do?” “I make people think.”
Queue pause … not everyone wants to think.
“What if …” is an interesting question.
It allows for great discussions … sometimes.
Many times it’s simply a throwaway comment …
We read about identity. We talk about identity.
We spend endless hours wondering about identity.
Asking ourselves: Who am I? How do I find my Self?
Today is now.
My future is now.
My right now is because of my previous nows.
The things I did.
The things I said.
The choices I made.
The paths I took and the paths I didn’t.
How do you answer the question: “What’s your best leadership quality?”
I used to say Mentoring.
LOVE … UNDERSTANDING … COMMITMENT … KINDNESS
That’s the recipe for LUCK that I learned from my Irish father, Lawrence Milan.

It’s about feeling seen.

Being valued.

My daughter asked if I was Okay.
Both of my mother’s parents were Ukrainian. She was proud of that heritage.
Proud of the stubbornness, grit and determination that was part of her bloodline. The characteristics we see as we watch the news.
Well – I’m not Okay. And it’s Okay to say that.
